Since its premiere in 2007, the Festival Primeurs has come to be a permanent fixture in Saarbrücken’s cultural scene with its presentation of various different plays and authors from French contemporary drama. Here, selected works in the form of live audio plays or workshop productions in German or French hit the stage for the first time. The festival programme also includes theatre performances, interviews with playwrights and audience discussions with authors, in addition to concerts.
The festival is jointly organised by the Saarland State Theatre (SST), Le Carreau – Scène nationale de Forbach et de l’est mosellan, SR 2 KulturRadio and the Institut d’études français. Among other aspects, Saarbrücken city library sponsors the festival.
