Have you just moved to Saarbrücken? In Germany, you need to register your place of residence with the city each time you move. The staff at the Residents’ Registration Office (Bürgeramt) will help you register your address quickly and easily.

Required documents

To register your place of residence, you will usually need your valid ID and a completed confirmation of residence from your landlord (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung).

How can you register your place of residence?

There are several ways you can register your place of residence in Saarbrücken:

Online with your BundID central identity verification account

With your identity card, electronic residence permit, or eID card for EU and EEA nationals

Online at the virtual Residents' Registration Office

Via video chat with the Residents' Registration Office (also possible without a BundID)

Note:

If you are moving from abroad, you will need to register in person.

In person with an appointment

The Saarbrücken Residents' Registration Offices in the Saarbrücken city centre and in Dudweiler offer additional opening hours for students at the beginning of the semester with no appointment required:
