Support services at the House of Arrival
The Haus des Ankommens (House of Arrival) is an information center for new immigrants, especially skilled workers from abroad. It is run by the state capital Saarbrücken in cooperation with the Saarland University of Applied Sciences. The House of Arrival is financed by the state capital Saarbrücken and the Saarland Ministry of Work, Social Affairs, Women and Health.
The Welcome Centre in Saarbrücken city centre is open four days a week. Interested parties can come without an appointment.

The House of Arrival
• is a welcome centre for new immigrants, especially skilled workers.
• provides initial information on the authorities, learning German, training, work, recognition of qualifications, leisure, culture, housing, residence, everyday life in Germany and much more.
• provides contacts to other advisory centres, authorities and associations.
• organises information events in person or online.
• arranges mentors.
• provides free and confidential advice.
• provides advisory service without an appointment.
• provides advisory service in several languages and, if necessary, with language mediators.

Specialised advisory service

Advice for people with disabilities by the Supplementary Independent Participation Counselling Service (EUTB): every second Thursday of the month from 1:30 pm to 4 pm.

Career advice on apprenticeships in skilled trades by the Chamber of Crafts: on the first Monday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

General advice on training provided by the “ZAra” project of the Centre for Education and Career Saar: every fourth Thursday of the month from 1.30 pm to 6 pm

LGBTQ+ Diversity in Saarland – Migration and Homosexuality
LSVD+ Saarland e.V. will be talking about the journey towards legal equality for LGBT people in Germany. The speaker is Stephan Wolsdorfer, project manager of ‘Strangers are Friends’. He will present the association’s support services for migrants and interested professionals in the counselling sector, and answer questions.

Support in cases of discrimination: Introduction of the counselling centre
On June 24 at 4 p.m., an event will take place addressing the following questions: What rights do I have if I experience discrimination? Where can I get support? What options are available to me? These and other questions will be answered by counselors from the Antidiskriminierungsforum Saar (adfs).
My way to Germany
Goethe-Institut Infohouses
The Goethe-Institut's Infohouse at the House of Arrival provides access to the ‘Mein Weg nach Deutschland’ (My Way to Germany) web portal. There you will find information in 30 languages on topics related to everyday life and working life, as well as exercises for learning German. The multimedia contact point is part of the project ‘My Way to Germany. Shaping Successful Migration Routes’, which is co-financed by the European Union (EU) Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
Online programme
The Goethe-Institut, as a cooperation partner of the Haus des Ankommens, organises an extensive online programme of events. Every month, several events are offered with information about life in Germany. There are also exercises for learning German.

The first steps in Saarbrücken were the focus of a two-hour group information event at the House of Arrival on November 13, 2024. The guests were 25 nurses from Mexico, India and Ukraine who are employed at the Saarbrücken Municipal Hospital.

The service team and the sponsors
The service team includes employees from the Saarland University of Applied Sciences, the state capital Saarbrücken, the migration services of Arbeiterwohlfahrt and Caritas as well as the Centre for Education and Career Saar, the Supplementary Independent Participation Counselling (EUTB) Saarland and the Saarland Chamber of Crafts. The International Office of htw saar also provides advisory services.







The Haus des Ankommens is supported by a large network of other partners. These include Diakonie Saar and the German Red Cross as well as the partners from the steering group for the three-year project phase.
