Support services at the House of Arrival
With the Haus des Ankommens (House of Arrival) project, htw saar and the state capital Saarbrücken are laying the foundations for an innovative information centre for new immigrants, especially skilled workers from abroad. It is co-financed by the European Union from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Saarland Ministry of Work, Social Affairs, Women and Health.
The test phase for the House of Arrival began in October 2024. The advice centre in Saarbrücken city centre is open four days a week. Interested parties can come without an appointment.

The House of Arrival
• is a welcome centre for new immigrants, especially skilled workers.
• provides initial information on the authorities, learning German, training, work, recognition of qualifications, leisure, culture, housing, residence, everyday life in Germany and much more.
• provides contacts to other advisory centres, authorities and associations.
• organises information events in person or online.
• arranges mentors.
• provides free and confidential advice.
• provides advisory service without an appointment.
• provides advisory service in several languages and, if necessary, with language mediators.

- Advice about the labour market by the Regional Integration Network Saarland (IQ Saarland). The next date (8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.): Friday, 28 November

Advice for people with disabilities from the Supplementary Independent Participation Counselling Service (EUTB): every second Thursday of the month from 1:30 pm to 4 pm.

Career advice on apprenticeships in skilled trades by the Chamber of Crafts: on the first Monday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Do you understand German, but have trouble with some of the words and phrases you hear in Saarland? We can give you a little help with two hours of ‘Saarland dialect for beginners’ on 10 December 2025 at 4 p.m.
My way to Germany
Goethe-Institut Infohouses
The Goethe-Institut's Infohouse at the House of Arrival provides access to the ‘Mein Weg nach Deutschland’ (My Way to Germany) web portal. There you will find information in 30 languages on topics related to everyday life and working life, as well as exercises for learning German. The multimedia contact point is part of the project ‘My Way to Germany. Shaping Successful Migration Routes’, which is co-financed by the European Union (EU) Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
Online programme
The Goethe-Institut, as a cooperation partner of the Haus des Ankommens, organises an extensive online programme of events. Every month, several events are offered with information about life in Germany. There are also exercises for learning German.

The first steps in Saarbrücken were the focus of a two-hour group information event at the House of Arrival on November 13, 2024. The guests were 25 nurses from Mexico, India and Ukraine who are employed at the Saarbrücken Municipal Hospital.

The Regional Integration Network Saarland (IQ Saarland) provides advice on the labour market. The International Office of htw saar also provides advisory services.
