DER EINE RAUM

The art collection of the state capital Saarbrücken includes around 1,700 works, mostly by regional artists – and it grows every year. For our project series DER EINE RAUM, we regularly select one artwork from this collection that we want to share with you.

We present individual works that address a particular theme; that tell a story, inspire reflection, and allow us to engage in dialogue with you.

Each solo presentation is accompanied by a tactile model. Don’t we all know the childlike impulse to touch something we are not allowed to? Here, art becomes tangible and experienceable – also for people who cannot see the artwork.

You can come up close and then step back again, listen to the voice, or simply let the work in DER EINE RAUM take effect on you.

Starting May 1st, 2026, we will present the art toy Hold Your Thoughts by Eric Schwarz. Many of you may already know it from our exhibition SUMM SUMM SUMM, which held its finissage in February.

Since the sculpture is meant to be touched - in fact, visitors are explicitly encouraged to do so - there will be no additional tactile model.

Through this work, we want to explore the theme of inner balance together with you, and reflect on the question: Are we trying too hard to move through life more calmly?
