St. Johanner Market Place

Every day the shopping town of Saarbrücken entices customers from all over the Saarland, Lorraine, Luxembourg and the Palatinate region. With over 200 stores the city centre’s shopping mile leading from the station to the St. Johanner Market Place invites visitors to come and browse. The shops in the pedestrian precinct along the Bahnhofstraße offer a wide range of products in any size, shape or form. Guests can take a stroll along the quaint alleys and small courtyards of the Old Town of Saarbrücken and pop into the boutiques and shops in the area. A new shopping centre is currently being built in the town centre to make it even more attractive for shoppers to come to Saarbrücken. The Saar Galerie is being restructured and enlarged on behalf of the investment company Credit Suisse Assest Management. The shopping centre will incorporate the historic Begwerksdirektion (mining headquarters) and will be directly linked to the Bahnhofstraße, the town’s main shopping street. The total investment volume by Credit Suisse is expected to be in the order of €120 million. The new shopping centre will boast over 100 shops on 25.000 sq. m. of retail floor space.
